i have in my 92 and its great nice power and torque it came with the car so
i have no stock comparison to tell you about. i have not driven a stock Lt1 so is hard to tell i did drive a 91 L98 and anemic compare to my car
ZZ9s are good for High HP numbers, you sacrifice just a bit of torque down low and the idle can lope a bit so some people have some city drivability issues.
11.98 at 117MPH in my 350 LT-1. Idled close to stock. Good torque down low and still had legs at 6200RPM's. Alot of guys seem to doubt the performance of this cam but the guys that get real serious with this cam seem to do well.
The ZZ9 is a good cam but I dont think it is worth $380 from TPIS. For half that price you can get the GMPP ZZ4 cam, the GMPP LT4 HOT cam, or the GMPP 845 cam, all with similar cam specs and will make at least the same power.
how much HP will it give me?
how much will it knock off my ET?
how hard is it to install? Does the motor need to come out?
Which cam is the best for my year L-98?
I just took mine out this past weekend and installed a custom ground CompCams.
I had my ZZ9 checked on a computerized cam checker at Dennis Wells' Racing and it came up short on intake duration by 3.8 degrees and 1/2 degree on the exhaust. It's a retro-fit variety for early non-roller blocks.
I question the quality control.
If anyone's interested I can email them the complete computer printout.
I had mine for sale, but a guy was supposed to be sending me the money; haven't gotten it yet.
