Default taking shocks off

olk in about a week I am sending my fx-3 shocks back to bilstein to be rebuilt. I will not be driving the car and it will just be sitting in my garage. Do I need to leave the car on jack stands or can I just put the wheels and let it sit there?

I do know I cant drive it. Thanks

I would set it up on jack stands... then it will be ready to reassemble... it is nearly impossible to remove a shock while the wheels are installed and there is weight on the suspension....

no I think u misunderstood my question. After I take the shocks off. While they are gone for the 2 weeks can I put the wheels back on? Or do I need to leave the car on stands, because w/o the shocks there should be no weight on the suspension.

I'd leave up on stands.

You can go either way. Just don't drive it. :D It would be easier if it stays on the stands.

Hi,
It does not matter if you have the shocks on or not with the car standing on its wheels. The shocks only try to delay fast movements in the suspension both up and down so that they dampen the movement and any resonance. The Bilstein dampers or shocks is gas filled so small movements is dampened by compressing the gas and for the larger movements there is oil being pressed through small nostles. With the car standing still for hours the shaocks will be in their lower position which is the same position as the suspension would be without shocks. Another thing is that the suspension or springs will be happy with the wheels off ground. But for the timeslot you are talking about it would not matter.

Good luck.
