Here is my question. In 1996 when the corvette switched from fx-3 to the f45 system, is the shock absorber in the 1996 car the same as 1997 and up model, or is it the same as the 1995 style shock.
The FX-3 is a rebuildable system. The F45 isn't but there is a conversion kit to go from F45 to F55 but it lists 1997 and up corvettes. Will this system work on the 1996 F45 system? or is the 1996 f45 system unique only to that year. Thanks
The C5 shocks I've seen look nothing like C4 shocks. I'd be absolutely stunned to find out they are interchangeable. I suspect this is why the kit you are talking about doesn't include the 1996 model year.
The '96 F45 is a one-year system. Fortunately you can replace them with regular C4 shocks.
Delco made the shocks in 1996 and it's a one year shock...I just want to thank GM for making a common replacement component that only serviced a single production year !

The '92 ECM's are hard to come by, too. Fortunately, there are several companies that rebuild them.
Delphi made the f45 shocks for the 96.They are no longer made or serviced.Last I checked(several years ago)GM no longer had any either.
I used Bilstein shocks and removed the bulb from the info console.
