Default Dose a 3 row all aluminum radiator = low operating temps+ larger coolant capacity?

There's a ebay vendor selling 3 row all aluminum radiators for $210 but before i buy it i'd like to know what if any advantage does a 3 row all aluminum radiator have over our OEM plastic tank radiators? can i expect lower operating temps and will the addition of a extra row translate in larger coolant capacity? would you buy this radiator?
heres the eBay auction info.
vendor: Jam-n-motorsports
item name: Champion cooling 3 row 91-96 Corvette all aluminum radiator
item number:160478603182

Well, Gm thought so for many years. Why do you think they had single, 2 and 3 row radiators? Bigger engines needed more cooling.
I think the larger radiators allow coolant to be more consistent as it will stay in radiator longer to allow it to cool longer.
Why do they tell you to put the largest oil and tranny cooler possible to fight heating of those fluids. Because the fluid has a better chance to cool down.

Make that 2 extra rows. I think stock is one row. They also have all alum 2-row radiators. Of course THOSE vendors says 3-rows are gimmicks and that the 2-rows cool better.

I suspect anything is better than stock -- esp if you NEED a new radiator.

I bought a NOS OEM radiator from Corvette Recycling in Utah for $99, and it keeps my '94 cool as a cucumber. But the economy needs further stimulus, so spend as much as you can.

Well, here in Phoenix with the 110+ summer heat I needed I new radiator to keep my 383 temperatures in order. I went with a Ron Davis aluminum radiator, which I believe it a 2-row model. And, yes it made quite a difference over the stock radiator.

I was thinking more air. I bought a bigger cmf fan. I still got hot in traffic. Then i pulled the thurmastate, still got hot. I pruchased the three core radiator off ebay.and the two small fans. I put the high valume fan out front to push and the two small fans on the engine side to pull. I had to put the thurmasate back in to warm up to 180. I have a 86.
That's how I fixed the problem. $255.00 for rad. 45 on ebay for high volume fan.

I'm fairly certain those HV fans are about the same size as stock. It was probably the new radiator that solved your problem -- especially if it was stock!!!

Stock fans are what 12-1300 cfm ea I think (not sure)

There are aftermarkets that pull plenty more air and less amps out there if you hunt around. Buy a good one

According to DeWitt's website, 1700cfm is stock. I would assume that's the main fan. The aux model probably is the same. Otherwise, it would seem like they'd "fight" each other.

Im running the stock (LT1) 180 dg thermostat. I had to replace rad. so I installed a dewitts-great radiator but almost the same temps-it cools down faster-I would imagine if I used a 160 stat and reprogram the fans it would be alot cooler-but im leaving it with the stock stat and fan settings.
I did have a Mazda MX6 that needed a rad. I installed a larger one and the car ran much cooler without changing settings and stat.

I had referred to but not clarified my post by meaning the 90 up. I cannot recall the source but Im almost positive the aux fan on the 89- is about 800, not much. Main fan have no idea.

Cancell that over priced coke can....!

I'm in Houston as well. Bought this rad, set it next to a DeWitt and they are IDENTICAL in every detail.

http://stores.ebay.com/Engineered-Cooling-Products

My temps were doing the same thing...235+ with a/c in summer afternoon traffic. Now, today I cruised at 190 with a/c in 97* ambient...it climbs to 210 maybe in traffic.

The only real mod is to the rubber mounting blocks. The new rad is fatter and fills the shroud more. Blocks have to be trimmed with a razor. Fit is exact. Fill with dexcool, add water wetter and relax.
BTW...it'll come UPS in 2 days.
$210........double row, full 1" each. Its FAT and it works. Been in my car for a yr.
