If you're desperate, for an interim solution, braze a bolt head on the plug and use the appropriate wrench on it.
Short bolt with a 17mm head & a thread matched nut.
Assemble & weld the nut to the bolt.
I made one too. I took a 17mm allen socket and attached it to a 3/8 ratchet. I had to push the button on top so it would slide on. I thought it was a good idea since I can easily switch between tighten and loosen.
Na, I'm just messin with you. Thats actually a really good idea, I'm going to make one because I like to keep one with my dunebuggy because their fill plug is the same as my vet and I carry it with me on the trail.

You can buy a long handle 17mm hex wrench at a commercial hardware. Mine cost @ $4.00. If you need more leverage use a cheater on it. It also fit the fork plugs on one of my motorcycles.
