89 auto engine/tranny problem(s)
Sunday
went for some food and car left me stranded at sonic drive in. Replaced fuel pump and i was good to go. HOWEVER upon WOT when OD would normally kick in it would hang n catch on second time. On this hang the RPM's above 1600 would make my AEM WB02 read "---" and car stumble if i left my foot in it. was intermittent and figured might be something with the new pump? My digi dash for the readings of gas related is now all at zero and hasnt changed. Fuel line filter was changed about 6k miles ago FWIW
Monday-Thursday
OD is "gone" and car struggles to get into 3rd and im lucky if i can get 50mph. going into second the car would rev into about 2400 then go into second with a speed of 20mph, the next gear would take at around 45ish with roughly 2800rpm now heres the fun part, when the RPM drops after the shift and starts climbing to about 1600 rpm's once it reaches 1700 the tach drops to a grand, my WB02 reads "---", the car feels like its gonna stall until I take my foot out of it, if i leave it in then it will eventually backfire. If I lightly press on the accelerator it will shift into third but anything above 1600 RPM is gonna make it stumble and lose all power.
No codes atall. at start car will do a rev thing to like 1500 then settle back to 6-700. HOWEVER periodically the car has been starting and hanging its idle at 2300RPM and not going down and I have to start n stop the car to get it to go normal.
Im guessing im having several issues for maybe a few things and would just appreciate a bit of guidance as to where to even start. My initial guesstimate after talking with some people is my transmission but this "stumbling and wanting to stall stuff is now making me and others think it might be engine related in some way especially after reading a few threads in here.
As for the tranny I changed the filter about 2k miles prior and only did a partial fluid change as thats all I could do at that time. I now have a leak that I THINK I fixed due to some bolts comming loose. Fluid was never low low but just a tab bit overfilled possibly. I will hook up the fuel guage in the AM to take measurements when I get off of CQ duty at the barracks.
Thanks guys Id be so lost if it wasnt for you

41-47 PSI is what you need with the vacuum line off of the FP regulator.
If Pressure is low, then remove the Fuel Pump again.
Discard the Fuel Pulsator coming off of the Fuel Pump.
Install a 3" inch section of 3/8" High Pressure Fuel line with a Pair of Stainless steel Hose clamps.
Reinstall the Fuel Pump assembly. Test again.
Also check your distribuator cap and ignition rotor. Ignition wires. Ignition coil wire. And all 8 spark plugs. An Ignition miss will make it seem at times the Transmission is at fault.
Hopefully your trans is OK. The 3-4 clutch in the Corvette 700R4 can fail with high milage and hard use. Dont belive thats your problem right now.
Make Your checks with your engine 1st.

87 - imma slap the fuel guage on here pretty quil when I get off duty and see what happense. Sparkplugs r delco rapid 5's with 10k on em, wore are msd 8.5mm with same milage. Dizzy hasn't been messed with yet so I'll start there after I check the fuel pressure and pump. I figure I'll return the pump to auto zone just to be on the safe side just incase.

Was busy and just checked to see how You made out troubleshooting.
I would leave that rubber sleeve off.
Its just there to muffle the sound of the electric fuel pump motor running, whiring away pumping fuel.
Never seen one of Fuel Pump Sleeves disenagrate in the gas tank.
Was it a soft Foam style or a hard rubber sleeve?
Maybe a real high alcohol content in the gasoline that you have been using in your car and reacted with the fuel pump sleeve.
Above 10% alcohol content will eat up fuel system parts.
Seen that before.
At the mercy of local gas stations unfortunately.
Like the other guy, forum member said, Do change out your fuel filter.
You don't want any of that plastic-rubber debris plugging up your Corvettes Fuel injectors.
Have a new issue to contend with then.
