Lee, I have two spare lids right now. So far an open lid hasn't made a difference over a stock one which is why I don't think there is much difference here.
I'll most likely be putting the SLP on just for looks.
I actually got a true .5-1 mph increase at the track with the open lid. Did a few back to back swaps just to see.
Even played with it on the dyno just to see, it was a 7hp increase I think. Can't remember, but all the cars are different. So what works for one generally doesn't do the same for another.
Frank, maybe you should repeat the intake swap test after you've freed up the exhuast system a little. The engine may now have all the air it can expel.
Actually Jim, at the Show and Go this year or Test and Tune, I'm going to bring the '95 out both with the open lid and stock and K&N and Stock.
I can compare that to the eliminators now that the Corsas are on.
Im gonna guess and say the 95 is less restrictive. For 2 reasons. 1. GM redesigned it for some reason. 2. Its not making the air do another 90 degree turn.
Looks like they went back to the late L98 lids with the later LT1's. I would guess that there's negligible real world performance difference between them, most likely the changes were made for noise reasons (just a guess).
