Default Any advice on shocks?

Okay. This coming weekend I'm going to leave my car with my mechanic and get a starter (needs one) and shocks all around. Any advice on which shocks I should use? (If you have any advice on a particular starter, you could throw that in as well) - My car looks level but seems to sit lower than other Vettes in the back. Plus, the back feels much more bumpy than the front.

Anyways, I do want to get something good - so any advice would be appreciated. Keep in mind that I'm still very new to this car. I don't know what I need. Shocks, struts, springs... Just throw some ideas at me that I can take to my mechanic.

Thanks!

Oh. P.S. Is there any way that I can upgrade to a Z51 at this point? What needs to be done to do that? Is that an expensive ordeal or something I could do now? I currently have the Z52 Sport Suspension. If I could easily get into the Performance Suspension, that would be nice...

Bilsteins. Cool. I'm looking them up now. Thank you...

Hmm. Maybe that last question sounded way too unbelieveably stupid. :smash:

We have the Z51/ Bilstein option on our 86. And I have to say that for street/ performance driving, they are really good. I have been driving race cars all my life and I can say that the combination is very good. Not too harsh on the bumps. But it is right on the mark in the handling dept. If I could say it in one sentence, it makes street driving really fun. I am not sure what all is needed to convert to the Z51 option suspension. But I do know that it is more than just shocks and sway bars.
