went to the races tonight (street type races at the airport--no timers or tree), well the car ran.......thats about it :cuss stupid tach wouldnt work after 3500 rpms(thats what it showed anyway), so i had to shift by ear, then the fans quit working again. overheated damn it! well i raced a 95 lt 1 camaro and got beat by almost 2 cars. i got the holeshot on him, dont know how, as i was off the line sideways with my stupid plastic tires. but by the top of second and into third he pulled on me. don't know if he was stock or not. my dry rotted tires havent burned off yet! i get absolutely no traction off the line. even after a 10 second burnout. well looks like i got more stuff to do. is there anyway to fix the tach, or should i just mount a decent aftermarket one right in front of the stupid one? im going to try to change the fan relay and see if thats the problem with the no fan situation. :mad
For serious racing, mount a reliable aftermarket tach with a programmable shift light on the dash. Then go out hunting for that Camaro! :smash: :smash:
Why would you race a car that is not mechanically fit? I won’t even take mine out of the garage knowing something is or might go wrong. Just sounds dangerous to me.
Jon, Because I want to drive it!! Thats what it was made for. I have been screwing with this car for a year now, yeah, its definitely not 100%. But damn it, I want to drive it bad. I'm sure that I will have more problems with it, but it has a strong motor and trans, its just everything else that i need to work on! interior, paint, trim, go fast goodies, etc.
