I have a antifreeze leak. I couldn't find where it was coming from. Had my car in @ Firestone for some maintainence I could not perform. They found the leak. The told me it was coming from the timing cover. What is needed to replace this? Should I pull off the timing cover & replace all the seals/gaskets that are there or what? Can someone please help. I would like to do it myself & not pay Firestone $1400.
$1400.00 I'll be right there LOL I agree with STL94 look @ the weep hole first
The LT1 you will need to remove the water pump do not spill anti freeze in the OPTI assembly.. remove the Opti spark assembly very carefully take pictures if your not familiar
uninstall the 3 outer bolts tap on the balancer to remove from the HUB .. you will need a harmonic Balancer puller to remove the HUB. the Vette is a 2 piece balancer... there is just enough room for the puller. remove the spacer & bolt from the HUB. you will need to install a spare 1/2 OD socket as your arbor.
I used 3 old head bolts 7/16 x 3 to attach the puller to the hub
purchase the timing cover seal kit & anti freeze, Re-assemble

Reason: typo
What if it is coming from the weep hole? What can I do, if anything?
You have to replace the pump. I just swapped mine out this weekend. Got the pump at O' Reilly Auto Parts for $119.00 (lifetime warranty). AutoZone has the DuraLast brand pump for the same price.
O'Reilly's is running a sale on coolant this week. BOGO (buy one, get one free) like a ****! You'll need approximately 3 gallons of coolant to do the job. Took me about four hours to do it myself, plus I saved about $500 (parts and labor) had I let a dealer or local garage do it.
Check out this link. It walks you through the process.
