Just replaced power steering pump rack and pinion and all lines on my 84 have to order after market on all these parts dealers have dicontued them. After I'm fished I take it for a front end alignment and there's not enough adjustment to bring the toe in. I measure the old tie rods and the ones on the new rack are 1/2 inch longer. Rather than take it out and reorder(it's a fairly big job) I cut a half inch off the end of the tie rods then machined a half inch off the tie rod ends so they would screw on far enough I'm going to keep this till I die so I would like suggestions on where to buy parts that will be most likely to be right and of top quality.
If I were a betting man I would say you got a rack with 88 up inner tie rods.
The wheel offset on 84-87 is different and it's in the spindle steering combo.
I'm sure someone will tell exactly where.
I have got good parts from The Last Detail in Atlanta and the local NAPA. I got my wheel bearings from PepBoys many years ago and were OE manufactured parts. Bottom line, know what name brand is good or look them over before going to work.

I should have mentioned I got this one from O'Reillys. I've read that all parts stores bundle years that are very close to the same but this was one where close wasn't good enough.
