92 convert. Went to a big party in Dallas last night so after getting there I thought I had better put the top up. Pushed my yellow release button and the drivers side unlocked but not the passenger side. I can here the motor clicking like it is releasing but it never did. Am I going to need a part for this and is it available new? Any help will be appreciated. Couldnt look at it last nite too dark. I put the windows up and locked the doors not much of a theft deterrent.
Each side should have a braided steel cable (maybe 1/16", might be coated) under each side of the lid- you have to find them and pull towards the back of the car to get the lid released. Finding them the first time is the most difficult- mine does it occasionally, last time a few weeks ago leaving Houston headed hime and the rain started- don't know why, just know where the cables are.
Try pushing down on the lid over the lock and push the button. Could be nothing more than something out of adjustment.
But knowing where the manual release lever is will be a big help. A dead battery with the top down and decklid latched is going to be the same type of problem. The manual release is there just for that type of issue.

Then you might lubricate the mechanism with some WD40 or silicone spray once open.

You can get lithium grease in a spray can. IMHO that's a better choice for metal-on-metal lubrication. WD40 can be used to free something up but it's not really a lubricant, and silicone spray is better suited to soft parts.
