Just finished my 383 build and it's time for exhaust. Before this build I ran stock exhaust manifolds with a deleted resonator and flowmaster mufflers. I didn't care for the drone at highway speeds etc. it was hard to hear the radio unless cranked full volume.
I will have Melrose headers and a magnuflow resonator without cats. My question is for people with similar setups. The flowmasters must gobut what will be a good flowing muffler without the drone? Is anyone running the Edelbroke mufflerss? Help please!

If you're talking about the X-pipe resonator by Magnaflow, I wouldn't be surprised if ANY choice of muffler would turn out fine. The ability to end up w/o drone is a function of eliminating the necessary frequencies or eliminating ALL of the frequencies. Because that Mag X-pipe resonator does such a good job of the former, I think you'll be alright.
I'd be tempted to choose glasspacks or a (5-6") round muffler with that resonator. Before deciding, I'd have my exhaust shop installing the resonator and piping and see how in sounds. Then you'll KNOW how much sound is left to attentuate -- and if any of it in is in that dreaded 1700-2200rpm range.
I am currently running an 89 383 with no cats, Magnaflow resonator and Corsa mufflers and couldn't be happier. The Corsa system is very quiet while cruising but comes alive at wot. I can carry on a conversation and/or listen to the radio without any drone noise. You'll be happy with the Corsa mufflers.

I installed the new Dynamax VT mufflers at the rear of the car, with a magnaflow (two in, two out, with a built in X pipe) were the resonator would normally go. I also have Hooker long tubes. It is as quiet as stock with no resonance. When you get on it the valves open in the Dynamax's and it flows what you need. The Dynamax's I got were offset in and center out then I had the muffler shop weld on some twin exit stainless steel tips. I couldn't be happier.
