I saw in the MAD catalog that G-Tech has a new g-meter. 4 built in accells measure accelleration and lateral g's. It is also capable of downloading run data to a PC, just $249.95. I ordered one. Got e-mail from MAD next day, it is backordered until June 15th and price jumped to $349.95. :mad They can't guarantee a price for 24 hours, what makes me think that they can guarantee it for another 2 1/2 months? I called G-Tech hotline (guess what, it is for sales only) and they were aware that a new one was forthcomming but that was it. I wondered what was ment by: it has the capability to downloading data to a PC; is that gonna cost xtra?
I'm passing on this right now.
Re: G-Tech Pro Competition Performance Meter (Rob90)
Ya..know I must say...this one really gets me upset.....and buyers please take note..
THIS IS TOTALLY AGAINST THE LAW.....I JUST RECEIVED MY CATALOG TOO AND THEY STILL HAVE THE PRICE SET AS $249.95....
soo....we all know it is not a typo cause the month prior i also received a catalog and the price was also the same in there....I came home and was considering purchasing the item also....and because I like to shop around...I searched every seach engine i could find....seems like the only place that knows about this new meter and is selling it is Mid-America....
SO...GUESS WHAT...here's the deal guys....and please if you agree....post here...
This is the biggest scam going yet....i have not been able to find a single soul to own one of these new meters....i am actually wondering if they truely are for sale!!!! YET ANYWAYS.....seems like Mid America put it in there catalog....for a suggested price and now has gotten overwhelmed with orders...and conventently tells all us stupid people that they are on backorder.....then applies the common supply and demand rule.....thus jumping there price up $100 more....
WELL KEEP IN MIND THIS IS JUST MY LITTLE THEORY...and is souly here to make the buyer aware of a possibilty....this is by no means factual data....iam still working on getting that...I will be calling tomorrow to see if this backorder and price increase is true....and what it is all about...
sorry to vent....just hate it when big companies....that we spend our hard earned dollars with...decide to do something that just don't seem right....
Re: G-Tech Pro Competition Performance Meter (Rynda)
Got a response from MAD today. They said that their supplier raised the price, I believe them. I also believe that what is going on, is that G-Tech is performing a marketing survey. Advertise their new product at a fair price [110 bucks over their current model] in one of their largest resale markets, months before they plan to deliver, get excited (read greedy) over the stunning response and jack up the price. This will also help prevent them from getting stuck with a warehouse full of the "older models", cause no one is buying them. I think that this is an unethical practice and in my world, you only get one chance to lose your integrity. I will never buy a G-Tech (Tesla) product.
The Race-Technology AP22 is looking very attractive--Thanks Rob90. Their product looks to be just as accurate, stores a whole bunch of run data, downloadable to a PC and runs on batteries! AND IT'S $100 DOLLARS CHEAPER! Hope they are not reading this.

"4 built in accells measure accelleration and lateral g's."
Seems to me 4 accelerometers should be able to measure 4 dimensions - but what is the 4th in a Vette, Roll or Time?
Analog Devices make some interesting avionics accelerometers and gyro's ('Micro-machines'), but nothing with more than 3-axis capability. You might take a look at this one - (there are some other references to automotive applications on the Crossbow site - including the VG600AA Automotive Fiber Optic Gyro inertial reference system) - it might do what you want: http://store.yahoo.com/crossbow/adxl202eb232.html
Re: G-Tech Pro Competition Performance Meter (DOCTOR J)
DoctorJ,
Good question. I had kindof wondered about that myself. If an accel is good for one axis (say +/- 1G), only two are required. Two axis accels are available and you would need only one. Could it be poor design?
Re: G-Tech Pro Competition Performance Meter (Vince Ivanc)
I love my AP-22. YOu can set the meter up for roll out and tilt angle to get accurate times. If you can go to the track and set up your meter to compare times between them you can almost get the exact same times.
