I got mine from my father-in-law and paid him $3400! I've spent a lot of time repairing the damage he did to it strictly using it as a daily driver (because it was a Corvette and he wanted to show off at work) instead of giving it the love and attention it so richly deserves. My 84 is frustrating most days just because of the headache of finding parts to replace parts...It runs great now that I located the fuel leak that was keeping the pressure from stabilizing. It would be hard to idle and die every time you tried to start it unless you had your foot halfway to the floor.
Unlike you, I DID test drive mine before I bought it. Maybe that's where I went wrong. Everything I test drive, I wind up buying...Got it up to 95 on HWY 95 going to Daytona. Man, he was pissed! I'm just about finished with the rear end, now it's time to start on the front.
