Just runners! $425. Even more expensive than the SLP runners?

plus all of this has to be used with an aftermarket base
i wouldn't use some good runners with a stock base because of a possible bottleneck effect
i would throw in an Accel/Edelbrock/Bigmouth base to get every bit of performance of the upgrades.

Not sure about all these figures. There appears to be 3 maximum hp figures for a TPI and none match my 240 hp 87 TPI. Are they all for different year C4s?

My ironhead -86 has 230 hp and late-86 with aluheads has 235 IIRC so yes, hp figures are model year dependent.

Whenever You see published Horsepower & Torque Figures,

Dont study them too in depth.

There are a lot of variables that may affect the actual result on your own car with the same parts installed.

Namely:..........................

What was the Dry Air temperature that day ?

What was the relative humidity ?

What was the Barometric pressure ?

Every engine has different thermodynamic characteristics and thermodynamic efficient levels if You dont run exactly the same parts, heads, pistons, rings, ect.

Selodom published numbers !.....................

WHAT WAS THE EXACT AIR TO FUEL RATIO THEY WERE USING DURING THE TESTS(ADJUSTMENTS TO GET THERE) AT WOT ?

DID THEY LEAN OUT THE ENGINE(15:1) ?

OR DID THEY RUN IT RICH (11:1 - 13:1) ?

I have some of my engines dynoed in the past, Superflow engine dynos in the Chicago area.

All variables listed above will adversely affect Your results.

Sometimes 20 to 50 Horsepower.

The 1985 Corvette was one of the hardest running bone stock TPI engines in my opinion. Was also rated the lowest in published HP and Torque.

Higher thermodynamic effieciency in place. Leave at that so others can ponder how and why. And say that I am full of it @#$^^ once again. LOL

1987 Corvette TPI's ran good too.

Speaking from experience driving them all bone stock or riding shotgun.

Build for Torque and Horsepower will always follow.

Good advice for street use.

500 to 800 ft/lbs at the engine flywheel will scare the crap out of any C5 or C6 owner when you are door to door with them. Rolling at 30mph.

Then punch it. Dont lift.

The other New Vette owners may not be smiling for much longer.

That was the philosophy on the L98's but it's widely criticized.

Interesting lay into it smoking the tires while your "opponent" pulls away. If he's not smiling, he'd be shaking his head.

(Don't get me wrong, I built for torque with ~500ft/lbs at the FW. It's fun as h$ll and it'll run out well enough to keep up with/beat most anything on the street BUT I don't intentially smoke 'em for fun/effect.)

I didnt read the whole thread, but after messing with an Edelbrock base and AS&M runners for 2 years the intake below got me nearly .3 in the 1/4 mile. And R&R is no hassel..

Is this a new one from what has been discussed above? Don't recognise it. Sits lower than the stock TPI. Fuel rails at the back.

I've had several different intakes and I am very happy with the MR/355 CID combo. With the hot cam and ported 113 heads it pulls hard to 6,300 RPM. It's easy to work on and doesn't weigh a ton. Having a large RPM power band is exhilarating compared to the 4,500 RPM dud intakes.

Has anyone really gotten one to work under a stock hood w/o mods to the HSR though?

UN-fortunately the HSR needs to be milled around 1 inch for the Vettes
most conversions I have scene Mod angle mill...
I wanted to install my welded 1206 port HSR on my LT1 vette
I did measure the LT1, HSR, TPI intakes <> TPI is the tallest in back
but GM angled it in front.. due to the Vette is the Proto type car
