I may now be keeping my 1994 Convertible. Its only covered 51 000 miles so believe would be an ideal candidate for an aftermarket supercharger kit. What is available as COMPLETE bolt on kits and what sort of power would it produce. Will auto box need upgrading?, I have work shop facilities and have carried out turbo conversions to 4 cylinder engines and played with V8 conversions so can stand some fabrication work if necessary ie upgrading to a larger throttle body etc but would like to keep iron manifolds..................
Let me give you my experience. I installed an ATI Procharger in my 90 about 11 years ago. If I had to do it over, I would not go with a supercharger. To get it to run right you are looking at double the cost of the kit. I should have had the engine removed and stroked, or whatever instead. It would have been cheaper, run better and more importantly generated much more HP than the ATI does.
The old Adage - there is no replacement for displacement still is true.
I don't have the experience that Flame Red has with this but I have been looking at the blower works stuff it looks like there are more set up for vettes but it they are proud of there stuff $$$$ but you may get better results on the forced induction part of the forum
I responded to your particular answer in the FI forum...
otherwise, superchargers have come A LONG WAY since even a decade ago. I would agree to some extent that the money is better spent on other mods initially. However, with the proper combination, the supercharger can really produce a trumendous amount of power.
BTW, I recommended Blower works as well, because "Flamed Red" is correct that if you purchase the "Standard" kits from Vortech, Procharger, you'll end up spending twice that much replacing and "correcting" the issues associated with the stock its. This is why Greg's stuff is far superior. Well thought out, quality controlled kits that will really produce a solid amount of power.
Just to add more fuel to the fire, a real nice set of heads, cam, headers, exhaust and tune will yeild similiar (if not better) numbers than a stock bottom-ended supercharged combo.

A friend of mine put a supercharger on his 89 L98 vert. Ran like a bat out of hell. However, within 18 months he melted two pistons & scrapped the engine.
