I thinking of upgrading the Distributor in my 1986 C4.
The stock one still works it has 145000 miles on it now I was thinkng of putting a new Ignition module in it but I was also thinking the bearings and other stuff inside have still 145000 miles on them so mite as well replace it all.
The reason behide this one the guys at work has a 1985 C4 New Motor trans ect He didn't replace his Stock Distributor and way home from work at 12:00 AM it quit on him middle of Desert 20 miles aways from any thing with no Cell phone signal Not Good He got lucky one of the guys was behide him gave him a ride home that night.
I know I can go down to Napa and get a replacement but also could just buy a better one.

Davis Unified Ignition has been around a Very Long Time Now.
They Started out as Memphis Distributor in 1987.
I have used DUI distributors and components. No Complaints. Or high praise for their products.
And in my opinion, much better than MSD and definatley much better quality control than MSD has these days with their products.
Buy a DUI Ignition - distributor and you will pleasantly satisfied.
My 87 distributor has 238k miles on it and it works exactly like it is supposed to. If you have no distributor symptoms, then I see no reason to replace your GM distributor. The GM HEI distributor is a very well designed distributor and they use it in many of their cars with great reliability and excellent performance.

I agree. Pull it, check for slop, correct the slop, and go on with life.
I have recently installed a dui on my 87 and i love it, more power, great people to deal with and i am in Australia and they have real good ignition leads you won't be disapointed
