Default x-pipe or straight pipes?

well since im going with the melrose headers. should i get the whole melrose full exhaust system? if i do its gonna be x-pipes. now i want the meaniest sound and the most horsepower. now my plan was to first get the corsa exhaust system, then get the melrose headers. the corsa is straight pipes btw. or should i go with the melrose exhaust system? but if i go with the melrose exhaust system then im gonna need new mufflers. should i get the corsa mufflers for the melrose exhaust system? i say this because they say that it uses the factory mufflers. but i want something better than factory, so what do you think? i thought straight pipes would bring more horsepower since its going straight through. but i head that x- pipes baleneces back presure?? idk whats the difference. lol

Default Corsa

Corsa advertises a "quiet system" with the newest technology. Corvettenutz.com may have a used B&B System for sale last time I checked. If you have time check out Powereffects.com. Good Luck

You wont notice any difference straight, X or H pipe seat of the pants
They all have their intended effect to a point but less bends in the system the better.

Loudest isnt always "best." For what they charge your best bet is to get just the headers, get a cheap x pipe(mine was less then 50 shipped off ebay), and have a muffler shop weld it all together and fill in the blanks. Then straight through mufflers from magnaflow or one of the others. I know a lot of people get hung up on the noise level but fact is, if your car is louder then your buddies, but his is faster, a lot of good being loud does ya. Me and my buddies refer to it as the sound per hp ratio.

Guessing the OP is young, we all did that. Try and make a not fast car sound fast by being loud. Only thing is back then we thought loud equaled more power.

These days its about being quiet and sneaking up on ....well...

Mine isn't exactly quiet but I've wanted to tone it down before. It was one thing when 500hp meant something. Now it is kind of embarrassing to have a loud car and not be in the 700s...

X-Pipe...Because it actually helps by Scavaging the exhaust Literally sucks the exhaust out.

Dyno's proven 8-10 HP based on Mods.

My crossover pipe actually quieted down my real duals. It looks like a semicircle pipe to pipe. I have hooker aerochambers on for mufflers. Also the reverberation I heard B4 the crossover was such it actually gave me a headache after 30 min in car cruising. No longer.

Forget the corsa's. Plus unless someone is selling them second hand, you cant get just the mufflers. They only sell it as one system so the mufflers themselves are probably not resonance free. Try this...

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9113

Im not sure if thats the right size one, but that style muffler is pretty much a resonator, but the inside is a crossover aka X design. Use that as a resonator and whatever straight through muffler(or muffler deletes) you want. Should kill all inside resonance while still using as loud a muffler you want.
