Hey fellas. I've got this '84 crossfire I've been toying with. Rarely, it gives me a no start condition. It cranks great, but just never catches. This has happened three times in about 300 miles. I'm getting a code 22, low tps output, could this cause it not to fire? I had the manifold cover off during one of the episodes and noticed no fuel from the injectors. I'm not sure if a tps signal is required for the injectors to pulse on the l83, anybody else know?
Yes, too low voltage from the throttle position sensor will prevent the injectors from pulsing during starting. You need to go through the diagnostic chart in the GM service manual and if you are going to continue working on this car, buy the service manual and the electrical diagnosis service manual too, they are very good books and worth their cost.
Adust the TPS with the throttle closed and ign sw in run for 0.54 volts +/- .08 volts on the dark blue wire and if you cannot get this voltage, replace the TPS.
I tested the tps today and it checks out. It is getting the 5 volt supply. Normally, the car runs perfect, rarely, it dies and will not start (no injector pulse). The only code i get is a 22, and it throws immediatly after clearing them. Looking like a shorted wire going to the ecm, or a faulty ecm.
