Default Throttle response question / aftermarket TPS

My '93 LT1 coupe has a condition that I consider to be a minor annoyance. Is it just my car, or do all of the LT1s tend to run like this -

WOT acceleration from a roll - you go STOMP...and the engine goes (pause) WHAAAAAAA!

One more time...

STOMP (lub-dub, lub-) WHAAAAAAA!

Can I get this to be more of a stompWHAAAAA! without the noticeable second or second and a half between command and action? Or is this standard?

Does anyone have the in-line TPS signal booster that sends a WOT signal when the throttle hits 60% or more? Would it help this condition?

Just wondering...

~Matt

My L98 has an adjustable TPS and I have it set to .65Vdc, the max before the ECM throws a code. When I hit the throttle on a roll the back end comes lose big time.

Your problem may not be the TPS but I think it might help. Maybe some guys with LT1s will come in with a better answer.

What you're describing is similar to a bog with a carbed engine.

I cured mine the same way by raising the TPS voltage to .64. I settled on this after trying everything from .55 up. When I set it at .64 the problem was cured so I left it there.

Each engine combo is different though, so yours may need more or less. I know that some engines don't allow this TPS voltage adjustability, but I believe the aftermarket has a electrical plug-in deal that can be used to raise the voltage - don't know how well it works though.

So...anyone know if the LT1's TPS is adjustable? Or if there's a decent aftermarket replacement that's adjustable?

Matt, I'm not an LT1 guy but I don't think you need any aftermarket stuff here; you have a problem! All these sub 2 second 60' LT1's don't have this tip in problem.

Personally I would look for a failed TPS sensor or vacuum leak. Perhaps the egr is stuck slightly open from carbon buildup or any number of thinks could be wrong.

Best think would be to get a scanner on the car, fuel pressure guage and perhaps a vacuum guage and see what's going on.

It should pull when you hit the go pedal. You don't need aftermarket parts, you need to find out whats broken. :yesnod:

Good Luck, you will find it.
