Default 1988 will not run

I have an 1988 vette convertable with an auto tranny. I bought 5 years ago, it was a stolen recovery. it was missing the ECM and the wire harness. I then got an wrecked 86 vette with an manual tranny. I took all the parts i needed and got the car to run. I could never get it to run w/o the check engine light on all the time. Also there were a couple of sensors that were not plugged in and the car was always difficult to start when it was hot or cold.

So now i went out and got the proper 88 wire harness and ECM with 88 auto tranny eprom. I replaced all the injectors, pluggs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition module, mass air sensor, ignition switch and alternator.

fuel pump works and i get about 37 lbs of pressure.

the car runs when i give it ether.

i have no more ideas please help.

Page 1 of ANY auto repair book. Engines have three basic requirements, spark, fuel, cylinder compression in order to start and continue to run. Use your timing light during cranking to see if you have spark and spark at the right time. Not necessary in your case because the engine runs on starter fluid. Use a noid light (available at parts stores, not expensive) on an injector on each cylinder bank and during cranking see if it pulses showing the injectors are being pulsed. I suspect they aren't. If not, check both injector fuses with an ohmeter. See if the fuel pressure holds up during cranking. Check to see if you have pulses on the white tachometer wire from the distributor. Check to see if you have reference pulses from the ppl/wh wire from the distributor. Cylinder compression measuring not required since your engine will run with starter fluid. You clearly do not have fuel being sprayed by the injectors.
You may have a defective ECM.
