Any codes?
Do you have the FSM? Should be a trouble tree for this issue.
Of course there are lots of things to check.
Maybe start with checking the IAC since it stays running with a little throttle
Your idle air control valve may be stuck shut. It is just below the throttle valve, threads in from the passenger side. Remove intake tube from throttle body, unscrew iac valve w adjustable wrench. Check resistance across the terminals. Should be aaround 55 ohms across each pair (two solenoids operate the valve). If infinite resistence, solenoid has cracked and you must replace the valve. Otherwise, clean valve. It operates like a linear motor - electric motor turns a screw which then drives a screw to open and close the valve. You can get the pintle out and clean it by. Jiggling it gently from side to side. Do some googling for more info. A repalcement valve is 25 bucks at autozone if you just want to do that.
If its not IAC, then it is likely fuel. Check fuel pressure. Autozone will rent you a gauge. Could be a weak fuel pump.
The next day tried a start up and all was normal. Tried several more times through the day and each was normal.
Talked to my ACE mechanic, a guy with many, many years at a Chevy dealer and sharp as a tack. He thought the computer may have needed a re set which was done by the repeated start and stops so he says.
