What is on paper and the real world can be two different things. I would run 1/2 turn preload and call it a day. I have adjusted lifters on all makes and models over the years, and 1/2 turn preload will work fine.

Dudes ..... If you spend your time seeking out and following everyone else's advice and don't experiment with pieces and parts and settings , YOU will never be the lead dog , but will forever be subjected to the same view of the lead dogs *** ............. TRY stuff for yourself ... if it works great ... if not , learn from your experience ... like Ricky Bobby said ... if you're not first ... you're last ...

Wow, that was fun. Why do some of these threads turn into spitting or personality contests? A dose of chill pills are defineately in order. Anyway, back to the tread. For what it's worth, I have always run Crane Gold rockers (no longer around). Their specs call for 1 1/2 turns and that's what I do. Willie

GREGGPEN,
What work did you have done to your "heads"
I recently had mine reconditioned do to a Head gasket problem, the machinist found my Intake guides were worn to the limits.
when I finished the job, ALL of the ticking I used to have was gone, in fact, I have to put my ear close to the covers to hear anything at all.
Now, I don't know if the valve adjustment took care of this problem, or the new guides, but those are the only two things that were done to the heads that would affect valvetrain noise.
Valves were not "ground" and both heads were shaved .010 and seals were replaced.
just a thought..
