I'm dropping an LT1/4L60E into my 84 and have a couple questions. I'm using a tranny from a 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood and have read a ton of conflicting information, so I need definite answers to set the record straight. Here goes:
1) Does this tranny from the Caddy have the larger "corvette" servos? (it was mated to an LT1).
2) Should I need a servo, what should I get? Do I need 1/2 shift & 3/4 shift or what exactly should I do? How about longer pin? I'm kinda lost with the servo thing. I understand what it does, just not exactly what components I need. This is a stock LT1 and not for racing.
3) Is the tailshaft longer than the stock 700r4 coming out of it?
The servo isn't a must it just gives it firmer shifting.
True. However, I wish to have the larger servos for better shifting. The question was does the Caddy 4l60e have these large servos? If not, which servo(s) should I get? They range from $20 to $200 on ebay, depending on what you get (2nd only, 2/4, ect.). Is the longer pin a good idea? Just need help sorting this out. Thanks.

The short answer is no. Caddy transmissions have a crappy servo. A stock corvette servo (20 bucks) is all you need. The longer pin is needed if there is excessive travel of the servo, as determined by the go,no go kent moore servo pin checking tool.

Thanks, I am also installing the transgo hd2 kit. Just want to do this right and only do it once.
I have had good luck with those kits. I would use only 1 spacer on the 1-2 accumulator. Also check for cracks on the plastic piece that applies pressure on it. If there are any cracks get one from a 80LE.
Vette servo is a good idea. Run one shim with it and it will shift well.
