Anyone out there have a procharger that is, or has been making a bearing like noise? If so, how did you handle the issue? I called Procharger, they told me to box it up and send it back to them. I bought the car with the blower already on it. In taking apart the front of the car to get to the optispark, I discovered quit a bit of oil in the intake ducting , as well as a dark line of gooey oil all along the bottom of the intercooler (inside). When I got the blower off, it seems very stiff, when I spin the pulley by hand it isn`t as free wheeling as you would expect. I asked procharger if there was a charge, and they said they wouldn`t know until they pulled it apart. I`m not sure I like that to much. Kind of a blank check scenario.....
Thanks for the info. I went ahead and split the cases open myself to take a look. I don`t see any problems, the bearings look fine, no excessive play, no metal bits floating around. The only real issue is that when I drained the oil out of it, it only had about an ounce in it. Its supposed to have six ounces in it. So I think its just a gear noise from not enough oil. The gears are not discolored from over heating, so I think I`m just going to replace the oil seal on the drive side case and put it back together. Now I want to find out what oil ATI uses. I found a web site that sells ATI oil, $30.00 freakn` dollars for three six ounce bottles! I`m thinking some Red Line synthetic gear oil would be good, but I want to try and find out what viscosity ATI uses. Unbelievable.....
Do you Guys think the Pro Charger is worth the $$ or would you go another direction, and if so what would it be?
Take it from someone that has one installed. Just have your engine stroked with new cam and heads and intake and headers. It will run better, produce much more power, and BE CHEAPER IN THE END!!!
Are they a sealed unit or work off engine oil pressure? Maybe some drained back. THose will make some noise just part of having a blower.
.
They are sealed, or self contained. They come with a dip stick so you can check the oil level. Appearantly the original owner did`nt check it very often.......

Procharger gets a thumbs up. When you here about guys superchargers blowing. Apart and their engine being ruined after it ingests the pieces, its usually a vortech.
I have a Procharger and LOVE IT! That being said, hell it's just like anything else, your gonna get a lemon now and then. For the record, the PC is on a L-98 rebuilt with ALL forged internals and running 12 psi. It has TrickFlow heads, ACCEL ignition, SnowPerformance methanol injection etc. SO, yeah I KNOW maybe not REALLY an L-98, but IT WAS!!!!! LOL. As for the PC, NO problems to date except for the destruction of 3 sets of 325-30-19 rear tires!!!!!
Well, I called PC back today. I played totally dumb to see if they would give me any info. The tech guy finally eluded to the type of oil they use. Its Turbine oil. Makes sense, at the RPM range that thing lives in, up to 70,000, regular oil would cavatate. They said to change it every six months, or twice a year.
Anyone have a Pro charger that they want to sell? That's what I eventually want along with built internals, cam and heads. Tranny upgrades also. If only Obama could bail me out...
