Tires are not a problem
Depending what rims ( OEM or aftermarket ) you use, you may need adapters to position wheel in correct position ( for appearance ) because factory 17" rims have different offset to 16" ones

You can find the 17" ZR-1 style 5-spoke wheels made just for the 84-87 cars with the proper 38mm offset. Going this way will allow the wheel to sit properly in the wheelwell with no need for adapters.

A 275/40-17 tire has very nearly identical dimensions as the OEM 255/50-16 tire so this 17" size wheel/tire combination won't mess up the speedometer or odometer readings. Stay with the same size tire at all 4 corners so you can rotate the tires as needed.
