who makes the best alternator for 93 lt1
I had another autozone acdelco, 'rebuilt in mexico' alternator fail. This time w 1200
miles on it. Had to get a flat bed tow home.
Does anyone know of any better ones? Bosch? Napa? The dealer?
Im tired of crap parts from these foreign countries.

You would be better going to a wrecking yard and purchasing an original unmolested Delco unit from a low mileage wreck.
I installed a 92 alternator on my 86, and wow, nice change being able to get through a summer without an alternator change.
I did have to fabricate a rear anti vibration brace to replace the original one that didn't fit on the 92 alternator.

try new, not rebuilt. cheap rebuild: new brushes (least expensive part of an alternator); better rebuild: brushes and bearings (the three least expensive parts of the alternator). That still leaves the diode pack and the windings (specifically the insulation on the windings)...neither of which last forever and are the most expensive parts of an alternator. I suspect these are rarely replaced during a "rebuild". If a rebuilt alternator contains new diodes and windings, it will be prominently displayed on the box or accompanying literature.
