Default Rear hub squeal

Looks like the squeal is from the dust seal not getting lubbed when the hub was put togther.

On my 1993 the torque was only 164 ft. lbs. Did the manual call for all 185? Maybe it was excessive and hurt the little feller.

The torque rating was revised up to 182-192 ft lbs in a update to the manual. His torque is fine.....WW

Hey Josh, I cant seem to get the link to work. I am interested in this as I too have a squeal in the rear. Mine occurs after the car has been driven for about an hour at highway speeds. After I stop, then take off, particularly when making a left turn I get a grinding squeal coming from the left rear. I am thinking either new teflon washers (or lack of) or change the dif lube with posi additive. I had the hubs changed about 8-10K miles ago.

Kinda like I will get to it one of these days but that day hasnt come yet.

Is this torque rating for all C4's?

Did you try rotating the half shaft to give you a better shot at the bolt?

I've had them off my 92 a couple of times. Didn't use any locktite when I reassembled.

Good luck!

Best lessons learned are those by mistake.

Josh,
I had the same problem with the top bolt. I gave up and took the whole knuckle off. Maybe I didn't need to, but it sure made easy work of getting the torx bolts out on the bench.

At that point it doesn't take much more to remove the knuckle. Of course, then you're going to want to replace the bushings. And while you're in there....
