Winter Upgrades 2010....

MoBandy swapped out his auto for a 6 speed for the electric vette and I'm picking up his 4l60e trans. Since I have a 92, I just ordered the controller box. I chose this one:

It'll be nice to finally be able to control my shift points and several other things on the trans.
I'm also picking up his converter as well. It's a 2400 rpm unit which is a little lower stall than I ideally would like, but it will definately help me quite a bit. Currently, I have a stock one and leave off idle. This one will definately chop down my 60' times.
We're installing everything on black friday, so I should have some pics shortly thereafter. I'm hoping to take the car to the drags, Dec 9th, 2 Thursdays from today. I'm taking the Jag to the drags on December 2nd to see what it'll do with the new ported blower and alky injection.

On a different note, the car finally has a stall converter which really woke things up. Even in second gear starting from a dead stop I can haze the tires at will. This thing is going to be an animal at the track now that I have more boost and a real torque converter.

The fix is more than likely a dakata digital box that will change the vss's signal into something that the ecm can see.
Other upgrades include repairing my b&b exhaust that is literally falling apart at the tube going into the muffler. There's a leak after being removed and reinstalled.
I'm getting a new set of drag radials of stickier compound to help me hook up at the drags. With the torque converter and a ton of torque, my bfgs (now worn out) probably won't hold the power. I also need to get an alignment to make the rears sit more flat (the wear to the inside due to the lowering of the car) and the front end needs work too(wearing on the outside of the tires).
I'm thinking of installing a new boost guage with recall, new fuel pressure sensor and possibly a dual channel wide band with data logging (to replace my single channel). All of these are done more for my safety than anything. The car is way too fast now to watch the boost and fuel pressure guages.
The last thing I need to do is adjust the plunger on the power brake booster. The pedal goes down too far before engaging the brakes for my liking.
Are those enough upgrades for this winter, lol?!
edit... I should relay my first impressions of driving the car with the new system. The torque converter is pretty fun. It's like learning to drive again for the first time. With a stock converter you push the gas and go. With a car with a stall converter it's like you push the gas and it barely starts to move and then ramps up. It's like feathering the clutch with a manual.
I was a little too quick on the pedal on the way home and did a bunch of peel outs. Going uphill in my complex with speed bumps was pretty tricky. Once I'm at the track, this thing is going to be killer and I'm going to absolutely destroy my previous best of 1.69 60 foot (and hopefully don't destroy my rear end!).
I'm going to play with the shift points (currently 5000 rpm in first and second) and also the part throttle shift points. This is going to be fun!

qwiketz, sorry to hear you are having an issue with one of our mufflers. Give me a call at 888-228-7435 ext.18 and we can discuss getting this taken care of for you.

I called Mark and I'm going to send him some photos so that we can figure out a plan of action to repair the mufflers. That definately helps me out so that I can focus on the other small things!
What tires did you go with for the rear? Still sticking with 335's?

It should make good numbers. I'm seeing more boost now than before. I'm seeing 10 lbs by 3500 rpm which was almost as much boost as I was seeing before max.

Nice! that 4L80 will definately handle some abuse. I'm pretty sure the dakota digital box is the solution. I'll discuss with Wayne and probably order one and get it installed soon. The box costs about $80.
Tonights going to be a quiet night on the Corvette. I'm heading to Irwindale 1/8 mile with the Jag!

I wanted to run 2 with the alky on and 2 with the alky off to see and tune the system. My mph was the same as last time I went out despite better weather so I'm thinking the nozzle I'm using may be a little big.
I made 3 runs. The first one was with a passenger and I trapped just under 80. The second one I trapped at 80 even but I spun pretty bad in second causing the traction control to come on for about a second which killed my et and trap.
Finally on the 3rd run, my tires got wet so I totally spun off and on for at least 150 feet. At that point there was no way to drive around the water box(water was everywhere) and so my tires flat out would not hook.
Oh well.... next time I'm going to get there earlier and make a ton of hot laps with the alky on, off, and with the 375 and 625 nozzle. I'll see what works best. I was expecting about 85mph so maybe it's just the alky nozzle and alky controller settings.

Another thanks to RacePro Engineering who sent me the battery hold down so that I can get my car track legal. I was previously missing the hold down.
Thanks to everyone else for the encouragement to get this bad boy done and on the track!
