Is there an electric pre-lube system out there for Corvettes that's not a royal PITA to install? What I'm taking about is not the oiler being a PITA, but integrating the electronics.
Somebody asked this a week or two ago. I think the answer was that there are so systems that can be adaptd for aft-lubing (whatever it is called). You would have to adapt one of those to work before engien start.
Also I guess we need an engine heaters and Vent holes in the hood with fans....
:p:
Too bad the radiator is raked back instead of forward. You could install those Ferrari-style rad exhaust vents in the hood and wouldn't have the fans blowing debris all over the engine compartment. Probably still need some airflow over the engine, though...
Ok, well, seriously ... what parts are you referring to? All the main bearings and places get oil instantly. The rockers are the only thing I can think of.
The most difficult place to lubricate in an internal combustion engine is the top compression ring with the piston at TDC. Piston to cylinder wall lubrication is done by the oil being slung off of the crankshaft. There is sufficient lubrication at idle. Excessive idling will not hurt a modern computer controlled engine. However, it is just a waste of fuel. You are not doing any damage either way, so it is up to your personal preferrence.
Yeah when i get home i pop the hood every time! .............But i do it cause i want to show off all my goodies and look kewl  Other then that i will do it to help it cool down just that little bit fast and just taking care of my baby dont want her to get to hot on me! :D
