hey guys, slowly removing some stuff from my engine. I took the valve covers off my car and noticed a couple springs were shorter than others. On the drivers side, I found one that was the only one out of the bunch that was shorter ( compressed). and on the pass. side, I found 2, not as badly short as the driver side but none the less. Is this bad? in the pic its the 4th valve spring.
you've lost one or more cam lobes. Pull the lifter on the suspect lobe, if the roller shows any damage, you can be sure the cam lobe is gone.
with the lifter removed, inspect the cam lobe. a roller lifter will wear a groove into the lifter face.

What you're seeing is normal. At any given time some of the lifters will be up on the lobe a bit, meaning it's opening or closing a valve, which will compress the spring.
Alright. I wasn't sure. If all this looks normal then its good to go for me. The motor doesn't tick or make any weird noise so I wasn't sure if this was normal or something was wrong
