Which way do I slide the c-beam? towards the rear of front of car?
Knock rear of beam clear of diff and slide back as far as it will go along side the diffhead.
Lever trans to side and force front of beam over and down between tunnel and trans.
Helps at this point if you can lower rear of trans and bring beam down with it.
Should be able to work front of beam down and clear of trans mounting pad so it can be moved forward and out
with the bell housing unbolted from trans but still bolted to my block can I remove engine and bell housing out of engine bay? or is it mandatory to remove transmission first? I was cranking on the lift to take out the motor and it was coming up but I got nervous about bending or breaking something in the trans if there is something in there attached to the bell housing.

It'll come out, just have to be careful with the input shaft on the transmission. And remember...the engine has to go back in which means you have to line it all up in reverse. Easier to just drop the transmission and be done with it.
You use open end wrenches on the top c-beam bolts. Takes a little patience the first time you do it.
My struggle now is just getting this dang beam out !
Slide the beam forward, while pushing the transmission towards the dirver's side of the car. Once the c-beam has cleared the differential, push the c-beam back. Make sure the parking brake is released so that you have some slack in the parking brake cable since you'll need to get the c-beam below it.
To remove the bolts, you use a flat open end wrench on the nuts on top (different sizes front & rear btw). Basically once the wrench slips onto the nut, just turn the bolt slow so that the wrench turns to a position that you can stick your hand up there an prevent it from spinning any further. Now loosen the bolts. Sometimes you need to jack the transmission a little (or lower it a little) so that the angle changes and there's less pressure on the bolts and they can come out.
No really. Last night I was struggling to get the C-beam bolts out and managed to get them all. I was having a hard time thinking that the beam was going to come out. So I went to bed.
Woke up today with a clear mind and went to work.
Today I started with removing the drive shaft. I started lowering and raising the trans to get a better angle and noticed my C-beam was moving around a lot better. So I was wiggling it back and forth and she actually came out very easy. I then was able to move the trans around a lot better and thought I would try and move the motor to see if it slid out.
IT DID.....I got the motor out EASY. The trans shaft finally showed its face. I have the bell housing still attached to the block but gues what I found out !!
ONLY 3 out of the 6 bell housing bolts were there and 1 was loose. DANG man. You can't trust anyone to do something right. The guys who did my clutch/flywheel must have never put them all on due to him being lazy.
Thanks for helping all of you. I finally am able to say I pulled a motor. this is really fun.
lol. I am worried about bolting it back in !!...I broke a few things while pulling the motor tho. But nothing that can't be replaced or better yet should have been replaced
wow, after checking this block out I don't know where to start.
I have oil EVERYWHERE...Makes me think I might have an oil pan gasket leak, MAYBE head gasket leak, obvious front and rear seal leak and who else knows where...I am going to have to tear this motor apart...

Its an LT1 isn't it?????
I'd be surprised if it DID NOT have a ton of oil leaks.
I'm always havind to wipe mine down to make it thru tech with "no obvious fluid leaks"
Its a hike for you but You could help me pull mine and put in the 383 in January

But when you're finished, you will know that you didn't cut any corners or leave any parts out.
