Hey I am trying to remove my timing cover on my 94 corvette. I am having a hard time removing it. I bought a puller and tried to use it on the shaft comming out of the cover. No avail. Do I have to remove the nut inside the shaft or no ? The puller came with a tun of bolts to use, I picked the right ones and tried to back the shaft out and nothing but bent bolts...
SECOND: I am not sure if my timing cover is missing bolts or not. There are atleast 3 spots for a bolt to go on the cover but I forgot it an accessory goes in the three spots or if I am just missing bolts ?
I just mentioned this in one of your other threads. You have to be commended for undertaking your motor disassembly with minimal experience. One has to start somewhere. One thing that will really help is a factory service manual. Every car owner that works on his/her car should have one. It shows how every part of the car is assembled and every fastener involved. It also has the all important torque specs that you will need. Check Jim Fichner Chevrolet (a forum vendor). He as great prices on the fsm. Good luck. Willie
Thanks willie. Well I have a maynes which helps a little bit. I just get lazy sometimes and its easier ot get on here and ask questions instead of looking around for the answer. It usually goes like this ...
Tear it down, find something I can't figure out, sit there for a while and think about it, go on the forum, get an answer, go to sleep, wake up and get it done.
I just don't know if I am ready to give up the forum searching.
I think its great your getting in there and learning this stuff too. I did it and I learned so much about the LT1 engine my first go round.
As far as your gunk on the engine....
That aint nothin'! This one had 150,000 miles. Surpisingly it only left about a quarter sized drop of oil on the garage floor each time it was parked. I did drive it daily back then, so most of the oil just blew back on the engine or burned off before dripping to the floor.
I wish you the best and hope you get lots of help here.

Willie, If this is the guy I'm thinking of (met him many years ago a Corvette Forum Cruise-In and a really nice guy too) from Montana, his name is Ken Fichtner. You may be talking about a different one though. If so, my apologies.

Damn, Don! That is some transformation. I only hope mine comes out half that good.
i had just as much sludge as OP, cleaned up the really bad spots and left the rest. the entire "floor" under the hub/opti had a layer of about 8mm of dirt/oil/sludge on it (no joke), mind boggling. i guess lt1s are just nasty leaky gunky engines
