Rear Caliper Disassembly
I am taking apart all of my calipers to sand blast then get powdercoated.
I have all of them broken down, but the rears are giving me a bit of trouble.
There is a stud which the parking brake pawl attaches to. It pivots on this stud and when it pivots, it pushes the pin attached to the piston.
This stud is threaded on one end, with a 13mm hex head nut, and the other end is smooth with a few grooves in it. The parking pawl is held on by a dust fitting and a type of push on clip washer/ring.
How do I get this stud out? Can I just wash it really good and tape it off while PCing?
It seems like there is a plastic bushing between the pin and the caliper. I do not want the bushing to melt, ruining the powder coat.
How do I get this stud out?
I do not want to press it out the wrong way and shatter my caliper.
It seems to me that the nut draws it into the caliper, so I would push it from the threaded end out. I found some bushings on rock auto which look like they would be the replacements. I have not tried any heat yet. I hit it a few times with a rubber mallet, but it did not budge so I decided it was time to ask about it.
Thanks,
Mike

As you say ,nut holds stud in place ; prob corroded in from age
Undo nut and punch stud out from threaded end
