i know a few of you have done the ford taurus fan mod. i'd really like to see some pictures and maybe some how-to info. i know i need a better alternator. Thanks in advance for any input
Actually, I think it's a lincoln 2 speed fan run on a thermostat. The fan has it's own thermostat and when it gets hot enough, the thing kicks up to high speed.
The only one I saw in a C4 looked too butchered to duplicate. It worked though.
The other one I saw was on a Chevy pickup. There was a write up in truckin' or classic truckin' magazine. The truck was a 64 or 65 chevy pickup.
I still have misgivings about putting a Ford part in GM's best (corvette).
Just run a jumper wire from one relay to the other and run both fans at same time. I did this on my 90 and used a in head thermal sensor to trigger the fans. The difference is amazing, temps drop extremely fast on the gauge, you can put your hand under the front bumper and feel the fans drawing air, you can feel air exiting under the doors.
I think a taurus fan or other fans on a 90-96 would be a waste of time. Replace you fan motors and run them at the same time and you won't have a problem.
Honestly, the stock system is well suited and powerful enough to do the job, if in good running condition. Too many people try to improve these cooling systems, when the reality is that poor maintenance is the problem, not poor design or poor component selection. Most people with cooling issues either are running the original radiator, probably with hidden sludge and corrosion blocking the tubes, OR, there's trash between the radiator and the AC condenser.
Use caution if you install the Taurus fan. Its a very high current draw when starting and running. You might have to run heavier wiring. I used to have the spec on current draw, I can no longer find it. Google Taurus Fan and you will get hits on its use and current draw. I dont want you to burn up your present wiring.

I agree - if there's any improvement, particularly with the C130 alternator, it would be to use a motor that draws fewer amps. Allmost any of the L98's will be on battery with 2 fans cranking for an extended period, at which point the fans will slow down and everything else goes with it.
I'm not feeding you guys any BS when I say they have cooling fans that are driven by the p/s pump. I've seen them on Jeeps & toyotas, they seem very reliable. They turn on & off like an electric fan, & they seem quiet. I wonder if they could be adapted to a c4?
those are "hydraulic" fans They have lke a reverse pump that spins under hydraulic pressure.
Extra hoses, uses the power steering pump and you would hardly notice any difference in the steering.
Well here's the thing. I've built the 500+hp 383 and decided to go carbed (I know... blasphemy). But no matter what I do I cant keep it cool. I've got the dewitts, ran both fans, 160 t-stat, I even have a huge gaping hole in my hood for the breather. I just can't justify spending 380 bone$ on a direct fit fan that MAY NOT do the trick. I'd rather spend 60 and a new alternator and flow 4500 cfm's and know it'll keep it cool. I just ordered one for like 65 bucks. I guess we'll see what happens with the fit. I hope it doesnt turn out "butchered". I'm a bit of a perfectionist. So I'll build the right adapter. And I'll even post it for ya'll
I do appreciate the input very much. But if there is still someone out there that can give me a heads up or a few pointers with the install. I'd be much obliged
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!!!!

Are your deflector panels (air dam) in good condition under the front end? A bottom-breather like a Corvette will not cool well without these pieces ducting air into the path of the radiator.

Google "Taurus Fan"
The first hit is a good article in install in a jeep. There a lot more hits also on install.

brand new... thinking of getting the big mouth for better flow
