Sometimes even a 1/4" low on fluid level can cause the brake light to come on briefly. This is common with hard braking and even hard cornering.
The "Full" line on the reservoir is just below where the lid ofe reservoir attaches to the wall of the body. Keep the fluid at that line or even just 1/8" above it. The sensor that checks fluid level is very sensitive.
Most brake fluid is clear with a yellowish to tan color. Some fluids may have a colorant like you find in ATE Super Blue. As the name implies, its blue in color. ATE Typ200 has a gold-ish tint.
In any event, you should be able to see thru the fluid. Doesn't hurt to do a complete fluid flush every other year for street driving. Fluid that has the color of olive green (olive oil??) could be a specific brand, but if it appears dirty or milky, it's time for a fluid flush.
As long as the pedal doesn't drop to the floor when you depress the brake pedal and the car stops, it should be OK to drive. But finding why the brake light comes should be done as soon as possible.

You are talking about the "Brake" light in the dash cluster - not the DIC Correct?
If the E brake handle moves a little it can come on. Had that happen at Charlotte Motor Speedway once. Try setting and un-setting the e brake and see if it happens again.
