Default Brake Light switch adjustment

In the process of changing out both Clutch Slave and Master cylinder I inadvertantly adversley attacked the brake system and moved te brake light switch so many clicks they (brake Lights) are on all the time. The FSM is rather vague on the automatic adjustment. Will some one with experience please instruct me as to the process. 1995 LT-1 Coupe. Thanks

I had the same problem after changing my master and slave. I can't get under there and wound up having someone adjust it.

It's not actually that complicated, you're just allowing the arm of the pedal to locate the switch. However, the factory setup is kind of rinkydink. As long as the bracket that holds the switch isn't broken, you could do what I did- Since the body of the switch is threaded, I got two hex nuts to thread on it to go on either side of the factory bracket and played around with it until the brake lights just go out with the pedal fully released, then tightened the nuts to hold the switch in place. The switch body is plastic, so don't overtighten.

I had the same problem on my 89 after replacing the booster. The switch looks threaded like a screw, but it's not. You push it.

You push the switch towards the front of the car and listen for clicks. You push it like a nail, you don't turn it.

Then you pull back on the brake pedal till you can't hear any clicking. That should set the brake switch.

I believe the cruise control switch gets adjusted the same way, at least on my 89.

Still helping folks 11 years later...perfect. Sure would've thought those two switches were threaded. Click, click, click, click, pull pedal back click.
