Default TPI Question

Can TPI parts from a TPI Iroc-Z be used on a Corvette? And what is the spring and lift limit of the aluminum corvette heads? And also did Corvettes switch to Speed Density Systems in 90 like the TPI Camaros did?
Thanks in Advance

Yes 100% the biggest Difference with the C4 is it's 1 year ahead of the Fbody's
You always need to measure... I would not go above .490 with the stock spings
And yes 90 - 91 is a Speed Density System

Thank You...So parts should be fairly reasonable I assume then....Well at least I can expect to pay what I've already been paying for replacements parts...

Mostly the Corvette was the cutting edge of GM so it usually had systems about a year before other GM cars. I picked up a TPI set up off an F body from a friend and asked about compatibility here. Someone came up with a great link which now I cant locate. Here is a listing of TPI cars and systems with part numbers. It may help you decipher what you have vs what you need. http://courtgear.com/TPIInfo/tabid/54/Default.aspx

Good Luck!

18 years ago, I temporary installed the MAF Sensor from my wife's
1989 IROC Z L98 on my 85 Vette to check and see if that was why
my Vette was bogging down or not.

My 85 Corvette ran as new with the 89 IROC Z MAF Sensor installed,
so I purchased a new MAF Sensor from NAPA.

Just my 2-cents.

Your exactly right fellows....I've owned 3 TPI'd Iroc-Z's just making sure....my cousin was trying to tell me that I would be paying more for the corvette name even if its just the same parts as my Iroc.

You do have to be careful with the plenums, the 89 Corvette plenum will only fit the 89 Corvette. Im not sure what year F-body plenum would match up with the 89. Im also not sure if the years cross over from the other F-body plenums to Corvettes of the same year..Like mentioned above, the Corvette was one year ahead on alot of things, so you would have to make sure which years match up.Most other parts do interchange from year to year...WW

89 plenums from Irocs only fit 89 Irocs...I have a blue powder coated plenum from my 89 iroc that I cant use on my 87 Iroc....The 89 model year elimnated the coldstart injector completely and programs it into the ecm to compensate for it....
I'm pretty experienced with TPI just from a Iroc standpoint which seems to be the same for the corvettes. I have tons of books also but they are slated towards Camaro/Firebird builds and "How To Tune and Modify Chevy TPI Engines" Great book I love it I've always built Camaro's so didn't know if the same knowledge would apply for Vettes.
Okay so what tuner does people here use to make their own chips?

I don't burn my own chips , I use Mick Stevens (mseven) as my tuner, he is well known on this forum as one of the best.. If you mean which program do we use , I use Datamaster, this is one of several that the guys on here use, Tunerpro is another..I have been using it for about 6 months and it does the job nicely..I also use Moates for all my supplys, these people have about anything you need for tuning..WW

I user tuner Cat it's quick, simple & graphical
I also use Tuner Pro it has more features. like changing your shift light RPM range
but for someone starting out a little more difficult to use!!!
I use 27c256 EEPROMS.. the factory uses 128 a little slower they did not use 256 till 1990

One of my '85 runners had a small crack in the small bypass runner.

I bought a pristine new (to me) set from ebay for 25 bucks.

just be diligent the deals are out there.

The 256 is 100% compatable the speed of the eeprom will not affect the ECU. I have used them in 87 and up

So in theory what are some of the reasons to even use the 256 then?

Inventory.. why purchase a 128 when you can use a 256.. the 90 - 93 are 256
the Accees time appears to connect quicker. nothing wrong with that right!!!

Nothing wrong with that...so it just access info quicker...isn't this only marginal and would be real hard to tell the difference?

I have not tested.. but if 256 EEPROM conversion. links up quicker
it should also read quicker to the ECU

in simple terms it's like upgrades of the same price.. like a battery. factory rates. lets say 600CCA you can purchase a 900CCA Better results. or a alternator Factory rates. 105A you can purchase 140A better results. you don't see the benefit. of any of these parts
but they will benefit when in use...
