I got extra keys from an Ace Hardware store. They had the ohmmeter to read the chip.

Or a good locksmith shop. I would avoid the dealership.

Sometimes, if you go to the dealership, they will read the code for you and then you can order the keys with the proper code on line. Sometimes you can even find them at a locksmith, if you have the code.

Or, I think Ekler's or one of the on line big Corvette parts dealers has a device that can be connected to the ignition to by pass the vats key requirement.

You can get the blanks off of ebay. Then get them cut anywhere. You'll need to know the resistance of your pellet, (the "chip"), in the key. You can use a volt/ohm reader, just set it to ohms and put the black lead on one side of the pellet, and the red lead on the other. Match the value against this chart and order the corresponding code number. That is only for the ignition key.
CODE-RESISTOR VALUE IN OHMS
1-402
2-523
3-681
4-887
5-1130
6-1470
7-1870
8-2370
9-3010
10-3740
11-4750
12-6040
13-7500
14-9530
15-11800

I found extra keys on ebay a while back. The dealership will charge you a fortune if its like anything else they sell. I bought mine online for $15.00 each..WW

PS: I just did the search for you. Go to ebaymotors.com and do a search on (Vats Keys). They have them on there anywhere from $5.00 to $11.95..WW
