Right above the oil filter there is a hose that runs to the center of the block. And I am getting ready to swap a ZZ4 into and was wondering if I should reuse it? One more thing does anyone know what size of harmonic balancer is in it? The ZZ4 came with a 8 inch and i am thinking that will be a little to close for comfort.
The hose you're referring to carries coolant and is part of the factory oil cooler system. Yes, you should transfer over the nipples and reinstall it on the new engine.
There should be a second hose, too, that crosses under the oil pan to the passenger side of the engine where it "T"s in to other hoses.
An 8" damper will not fit. You're going to need to get a smaller diameter damper. Take your 8" damper to a machine shop along with the new one and they can check that the balance is the same. If it isn't they should be able to modify the smaller one to match the 8" damper.
