Default Grocery Getter

Well my 355 rebuild is going but not to happy with the sound of the exhaust it sounds like a Grocery Getter.

If I put diffent ratio rocker arms 1.6, 1.65 or 1.7 will this give me a nastyer sounding exhaust tone.

If it will change the exhaust tone should I do both intake and exaust of just intake or exhaust.

The car runs good but I now want a little nastyer sounding car vett not like a Grocery Getter.

Nah wont make any difference really. You need more lift to take advantage of your heads, like lots more than you have now. once youre moving more air your note will change.

I dont get it even if I went with the 1.7 rocker arms using my trick flow 23 super 195 heads it not going to Help ???.

The cam in it has 447 lift with 1.5 arms if I go to 1.7 this will give me .507 lift with 290 duration @214

Head flow at .500 / 253 intake, .177 exhaust

Exhaust note has more to do with cam duration and muffling than valve lift.

Here's my stock vette thru my sidepipes. A stocker would sound the same thru aftermarket cats and glass packs.

Marv,

Your cats quiet your car enough to be legal. My stock engine has the sound you are looking for. I have no mufflers. Not a lope, but a deep throaty sound.

Marv, Its sounds good to me. I can listen to my music. It has a deeper pitch. When I went to get new mufflers, my muffler guy told me this is what to do. So he did this for me.

Can you talk to the passenger at normal tone or do you have to yell at each other.

my hearing aready not the best due to my job working around Jet Aircraft after all these years.

Marv, my 84 had eliminators on it when I got it. At cruise it wasn't much different than muffled, but around town the mufflers made a nice difference. It still drones some inside at low speeds (and mines' an automatic so that makes it worse) but once you're up past 1600 or so it's nice and "performance sounding" inside without being obnoxious.

Hope that helps.

The C4 really is good at getting groceries with the deep area behind the seats that is if you own a coupe. The verts on the other hand are useless.

I have put 2 sets of golf clubs in the back as well as lugguge and other items.
