Default Power window question

Hey guys, i recently walked into a pretty good deal and bought my second C4. The passenger window wont go down for either switch (driver or passenger) i don't hear any noise either when hitting the switch as if it was out of track. Im going to be replacing the outer window felt sometime this week on winter break but i need to get the window down to do so. Any ideas? Could it be just a bad connection somewhere or could the regulator itself be bad. with my experience on a previous car when my window regulator went bad it was in the "down" position. The car is a 93 so i know its not a ribbon issue. And the window is fully up and sealed, all this has me baffled. Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks jay.

welp, simple elimination is your answer.

Volt meter to the contacts at the regulator to see if it is getting power when the switch is engaged...until you have that info...anything is just a guess.

If you need new switches, do yourself a favor and buy OEM. The ones I bought from Mid America are pretty cheap. The lever on both switches wobbles from side to side in the housing. I don't know where Mid America sources these things, but they need to find a new supplier.

Yea im definitely gonna search ebay first for an OEM. Theres been a few things that ive ordered from mid america that definitely weren't the quality you would expect for the price you paid.

The FSM has tons more detail, and is published for the specific year of the car. My '92 FSM, two vol's, about 3" thick.

Just got mine and I agree!!! I rarely look at the Chilton's. The later C4 FSM's are waaaaay better than the early ones! The pics are better, the descriptions are better and there's an index in the back! Volume one is Yellow Pages size and Vol. 2 is White Pages size. They probably weigh 7-8 pounds together

PS: Just replaced the driver's power window regulator on the driver's side and Thank God, I had the FSM for the 95'. It had arrived Saturday, after winning the two volume set for $24! The directions were great. Took 4.5 hours to carefully do this and didn't damage nothing. (but it wasn't easy, that's for sure!)

The FSM will help you fix your car, the other will hold the door open as you walk through.

Alright guys i just got the driver side door wipe installed no problem, i swapped switches with my other 93 and the window still wouldnt go down. About to pull the passenger door panel off and see what things look like, maybe the tapping the motor while hitting the switch will do something.
Anyways this is the exact reason why i joined this forum, i have the same post up on another forum with only one reply. i put a post on this forum and im getting replies all day long, thanks so much

hey guys the final update. tapped on the window motor once while hitting the switch and it works great. im going to install the passenger side window wipe now, but before i put the door panel back on have a question. Is there anything i can do to prevent this from happening again? or is this just something that happens with age?
Thanks so much for everyones help, i really appreciate it guys!!!

You can buy a new motor and just swap the internals without having to deal with the rivets to install a motor. It's not to complicated to do, I did it on my 90 and the windows are really fast now.

I don't buy anything from Mid America anymore. The quality of their products has tanked. And most items in their catalog is boutique stuff like shirts, hats, key rings, etc.
