Daytime Running Lights for the C4

This kit does require cutting of the turn signal wires behind the turn signal sockets. It includes all connectors necessary to wire it in and the instructions were great. Total install time in either vehicle for me was about 45 minutes.
The only real difference I noticed was that when you turn on a turn signal, the unit goes out of DRL mode. When I contacted the the company and asked why, their reply was "if you would look briefly at the front of an oncoming car when the turn signal is in the off-cycle, you might think that the car is turning the other way because the other lamp is on."
If you ever wanted DRL's and didn't want to pay the $180 price, this kit does work.
Here's where I bought mine: http://members.nccw.net/webe/products/drl/drlad.htm
Lawrence was very helpful, emails were prompt, and everything was delivered as promised. Tell him Pete with the 90 convertible sent ya!

how is the build quality?
thanks

I've never seen the $180 kit from Ecklers, I just knew it wasn't worth that price to me for the DRL's.
This kit must be spliced into the existing harness. It does not come with replacement sockets so you must cut the harness. On my 90, I cut the blue wire going to each turn signal socket and wired in the new module. It came with connectors, but I prefer solder so I didn't use them. Next, I spliced into the brown wire behind the left turn signal. This is so when you turn on your lights, the unit goes out of DRL mode. Last, find a ground and power wire that is hot with the ignition on. That's it...you're done.
As far as build quality, there's not much to see. The unit is enclosed in a heavy vinyl sleeve and the bottom is sealed with epoxy. Size wize it's about as tall as a pack of smokes and about half as wide.
After I finished, I thought: Man, If Scorp would have done this, he'd have taken pictures, and written a tech tip. Since I only aspire to be that good, I'll take pictures when I add my next mod :D I can bring the digital camera home from work and post pics tomorrow if you want to see what it looks like installed.
Seriously though, if you have any doubts email Lawrence. He and I exchanged emails for about a week before I bought one and he was super to work with.
Pete
All in all, there isn't much difference for the difference in price.
