1994 block for 1990 engine?
I found a machined ready-4-build motor (supposedly) for $200 in my area. The casting number is 10066036 and I know it is a Mexican casting block. I just wanted to be sure if I bought this block with intentions of a mild-streetable 383 build it would work fine. I was always confused about any differences in the BLOCK of a vortec engine (if any).
Oh, right now I am running a stock rebuilt 1990 engine in a 1990 vette.
Please clue me in on what I should look out for.

Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor 350 Engine
1971-1985 Car and light Truck Replacement Engine.
Block casting # 10066036...350....2 or 4 bolt mains ... 2-piece rear seal, "Hecho en Mexico"
Bottom of the line GM replacement engine with flat tappet cam.Perfectly usable but limited by flat tappet cam and expensive to convert to roller cam
Better to look for a L31 Vortec block #10243880, has roller cam and 50% chance of being 4 bolt mains
Plentyful ; came in GM trucks / vans '96 -'00
With the exception of the LTX engines; all SBC blocks are the "same".
1 pce seal crank used after '87 but most parts interchange ; '55 - '00
The Vortec heads are all that makes a Vortec engine a Vortec engine.
Take the heads off and it is just a reg late model ( 1 pce RMS ) SBC
NB
Vortec is GM's in house name for it's truck engines. Covers everything from 4cyl to big blocks.
The " Vortec" engine most commonly talked about is the above L31 with the real Vortec heads which only have 4 bolts holding intake and unique port shape different from reg SBC ports
