Default Paging Scorp508 re: your torque/HP graph

Regarding the torque/HP graph you posted earlier in another thread: Was that with or without engine mods, and before or after [high-mileage?] rebuild???

210HP @ 4100rpm and 310#/ft @ 2900rpm sounds like an acceptable real-world L98 OEM dyno run... :yesnod:

That's only down ~20bhp and 20#/ft from published OEM magazine tests...Which I would suspect anyway... :D

I think those numbers were with the motor stock.

And those are rear wheel numbers, so they are probably a bit higher than published crank numbers!

Those are rear wheel stock #s. Take 16% drivetrain loss for the 4+3 into the equation and you get 251hp / 375 ft/lbs at the crank.

How about your mileage? I'm curious as to degradation over time...This was your baseline dyno run, am I correct? No mods, no rebuild?

Shoot, I hope mine is that good...I gots 109K miles, but seems to run good...

I'm putting my stock L98 on this weekend. I have headers, dual exhaust, no frisbee and a cut lid. I'm hoping to see about 245 at the wheels.

Oh boy I dunno. I got the car in april of that year with 98.5k on it. I think that was done in Sept. of that year. I did 35k miles bythe time 4/01 came around. So the car probably had about 116k on it when the dyno was done.

Mileage is just over 30mpg at 65mph on a flat road. At about 80mph I get about 22-24mpg with cruise control on.

Wow; that's great! :yesnod:

Do all dyno runs start at ~2300rpm? I wish I knew what the car looked like from 800 - 2200...

(Did it cost a bunch???)

I'm surprised how much easier it is to read the graph than to just read the numbers...Must be some visual acuity thingy..

It cost me $50 for 3 pulls. Normally the dyno starts at 2000. You do it in your 1:1 gear to help eliminate any extra parasitic loss in the drivetrain than you'll already have. That would be my 4th gear, and an automatic's 3rd gear.

If you tried to run it off idle in 4th it would probably be a very groaning/chattering experience. :)
