Default Lifter Preload

........... Do changes in lifter preload effectively change pushrod length as seen at the rocker tip / valve stem ?? ......... As a for instance ... if I change from the factory recommended one full turn down ( approx .060" preload ) to one quarter turn down ( approx .015" preload ) ... have I lengthened the pushrod by .045" at the rocker ?? ...............

............. HUH ? ................. I'm just referring to rocker adjustment and its dynamic "effect" on pushrod length ........... there's no change in lift or duration ... and , the amount of preload should have no bearing on the amount of noise ... at least as long as there is SOME preload .......

assuming that you are running stud rockers not shaft; As you turn the rocker adjusting nut tighter to sink the plunger into the lifter the rocker fulcrum is moving as well, changing the geometry.
