Default Sound-Reduction Insulation

I recently had a mechanic replace the heater core in my 89, and during that process he removed and threw away the sound-reducing insulation that normally is behind the "breadbox" and under the dashpad.

Can anyone tell me where to get more of that insulation or a reasonable substitute? Without that insulation, I'm getting some squeeking and rattling that wasn't there before.

Thanks in advance,
-WL

The dynamat is a great product but much thinner than the stock stuff, I think what is in there from the factory looks more like carpet padding. Depending on where it was installed, you might want to hit the local carpet store and get a small piece of padding.

I agree, do not get Dynomat for that. You need about 1/4" to 12" carpet padding "foam". Dynomat is used for different applications.

You could buy ice & water shield from your local hardware store...the stuff is almost identical to Dynamat, and much less expensive. I have used it in several cars/trucks.
