Looks like yours CMSL is mounted using 3M double sided tape, since there is a gap on the base of the brake light.
There is no gap on the base and maybe the picture shows some reflection that appears that way. Thanks for the suggestion and you could be right either way as an alternate method to attach since it is not using the traditional bolts as others have. I guess when I need to I'll gently pry it up and see what is holding it down.

My guess would also be that the unit is glued to the halo. If you take one of those plastic scrapers when most of your bulbs burn out, you should have no problem getting the unit off. It looks to me like the PO used a later model hatch glass to replace the one that broke, & he probably got a good deal on it. If you look closely it looks like the grommets are a bit different where the wires go in. as has been stated, the hatch glass, as well as every other window in the car with the exception of the windshield will shatter into a zillion pieces when broken (the windshield is laminated by law) Back when I was on the Phila Highway Patrol, one of the "tools" we would carry was a spring loaded center punch. That little puppy took out the rear window of any car in a jiffy.
the brake light does not seem to be screwed into the glass...the glass just has access holes to unbolt it from the hinge part of the car. The brake light was untouched when the glass was broken, and it was unforseen that the new glass would cover the light access bolts.
