So now reading it looks like a single mass flywheel may not be the best way to go. What are your guys opinions on it? I really don't want to have to spend another grand to buy a new flywheel and clutch.
I just finished mine about a month or so ago. I went with a SPEC stage III with a single mass aluminum flywheel and carbon pads rated to 600 rwhp. So far, I love it. I haven't had it to the track or dyno yet, so I don't know the exact numbers, but it feels more lively- it revs a lot quicker and is still very easy to drive. It wasn't real cheap(due to the aluminum flywheel) ~ $850(including shipping- if you buy both together, then they will discount some). The only draw back is the transmission noise you will hear- but I'm used to it now.
Do you have a single or dual mass flywheel now? I wasn't sure about '91s. I had to replace my flywheel anyway because the stock dual mass on my '94 couldn't be resurfaced, so I decided to go with the single mass aluminum one that can be resurfaced in the future if needed to be. I don't want to have to replace that heavy flywheel every time I replaced the clutch- just something to think about.
